Match Report: Harry Kane Double Sinks Hapless Huddersfield as Tottenham Trot to Win

Premier League newcomers Huddersfield Town were handed the harsh reality on Saturday, as they were totally outclassed by London giants Tottenham Hotspur. The Lilywhites gave the minnows a thorough drubbing at the John Smith’s Stadium, sending the home side a message saying: “Welcome to the Premier League”.

Spurs sharpshooter Harry Kane was at the forefront of the attack, grabbing a brace while Benjamin Davies and Moussa Sissoko also got themselves in the scoresheet. Huddersfield Town keeper Jonas Lossl, meanwhile, had a rather busy afternoon.

The win at Huddersfield meant Spurs have now notched 14 points after seven games. They’ve had a rough start to the season, with a defeat to Chelsea and draws against Burnley and Swansea City at home. But now that they’ve two consecutive wins, it appears Tottenham are back on track.

Tottenham Hotspur kicked-off the match with gusto. The away side looked formidable in attack and Huddersfield were forced to defend in their own half. Spurs did not take long to score the opening goal. It was business as usual for Harry Kane, who coolly slotted home the ball at the ninth minute.

Eight minutes later, it was youngster Ben Davies who would notch his name in the scoresheet. The wonderkid winger’s agile reflexes allowed him to capitalise on a mistake made by defender Chris Lowe. Davies would then saunter onto the box and score the goal.

Kane would once again score for Spurs on the 23rd minute, slotting the ball home with a screamer from 18 yards out, giving his team a comfortable lead as the first half came to a close.

The second half was understandably slower than the first given the gulf in the scoreline. Spurs were toying with their opposites at this point, and no one could blame them. Dele Alli had chances at goal but he couldn’t score. He was instead booked for simulation.

Former Newcastle United man Moussa Sissoko would, however, send Spurs on a high after score in stoppage time. It was the icing on the cake that sealed Spurs’ victory at 4-0. As for Huddersfield, it’s back to the drawing board, getting their heads together, and ensuring they don’t let this defeat get to their heads.
