Former Devil’s Striker in Possible Premier League Return with Chelsea

Current Premier League leaders Chelsea are thought to be angling a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s fast-paced front-man Javier Hernandez.

Hernandez, 28, is no stranger to the Premier League, having played no less than six seasons for well-decorated club Manchester United, scoring 59 goals in 159 appearances in all competitions for the Old Trafford outfit.

Since then, Chicharito has decided to seek pastures anew and moved to German side Bayer Leverkusen in 2015 after a relatively successful spell with Real Madrid.

But now it appears the Mexican striker is set to return to English soil. True enough, according to German daily Bild, Chelsea are thought to be in the running to launch a transfer bid for the striker come January.

Blues boss Antonio Conte is believed to be looking for a second striker to bolster his team’s ranks and Hernandez is mooted to be the perfect fit for the Italian manager’s system.

Whether a move materialises before the transfer window closes by the end of January, however, is still far from certain.

Hernandez has been a stellar player for Leverkusen in his two seasons for the club so far, having scored an amazing 33 goals in a span of 63 matches across all competitions.

Hernandez made his move from United to Leverkusen in August of 2015. He has a contract with the German side until 2018.
