“Football has been like a father to me” Robert Earnshaw pens superb goodbye letter after announcing retirement

After 236 Goals for 11 clubs, (including West Brom, Norwich, Derby, Nottingham Forest, Blackpool and Maccabi Tel Aviv) spread over 6 countries, Welsh international and all round good egg Robert Earnshaw has retired from the game at 34 years of age.

Earnshaw made most of his appearances for Cardiff City, representing the Welsh side on more than 200 occasions, scoring 109 for the Bluebirds across two spells. Some would say the strikers greatest achievement was the 59 caps he made for Wales, others would say that, especially those that received the question in their local pub quiz, being the only player to have score hat-tricks in all four English leagues, the League Cup, the FA Cup and at international level, makes him a genuine footballing legend

After finishing his career up with MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps the ultimate journeyman penned this fabulous letter thanking the sport for everything it’s given him.
