Australian A-League side Western Sydney Wanderers have come under fire from the FFA after a banner depicting negative connotations against gay people was displayed at a game.

The offensive imagery was shown for all to see during the second half of the clubs victory over Sydney FC on Saturday. Featuring blue-faced man performing oral sex, stewards watched the insanity I front of the 44,000 capacity crowd before taking action. The FFA commented on the tifo via head Greg O’Rourke….

“FFA is aware of the unauthorised and totally unacceptable banner that was displayed in the Western Sydney Wanderers area during Saturday night’s Sydney derby at ANZ Stadium,”

He carries on…

“The discriminatory nature of the tifo has no place in society and will not be tolerated in the A-League. “We are working with the club and currently gathering as much information as possible and will deal with the matter when we have all available facts including CCTV footage.”

The clubs supporter club, the Red and Black Bloc, however had a very different viewpoint on the banner.

Publicly saluting the banner, the group posted the image on their Twitter account alongside a quote from Sydney coach Graham Arnold.

If the FFA remain unconvinced by the clubs measures to crackdown, the Wanderers are expected to receive punishment in the form of points deduction.

Unwelcome news for the side after the news that the football association are currently mulling over further punishment due to fan trouble associated with lighting flares.
