What with the over zealous shows of frustration mid games, not too mention the rather embarrassing training ground shaking of hands with Mr Wenger himself, Alexis Sanchez has been nailed on by various publications to be leaving the Emirates this coming Summer.

Indeed, with the club currently struggling to grab their usual Champions League place, few Arsenal fans would begrudge a player who’s work rate is rarely called into question.

Saying all that.

It seems the double Copa America winner may just be prepared to stay for another year, if he believes the club have the ambition to match his own.

And by ambition we of course mean, are the Gunners willing to spend in the coming Summer?

According to the Mirror, Sanchez frustrations are purely born out of Arsenal’s inability to compete with the league’s best, not his general unhappiness at being with the club.

With the Chile international sitting with just one year left on his contract, and with the player currently mulling over a huge £250,000 contract, the ball is firmly in the court of the forward.

This season Sanchez has been in stellar form, contributing 22 goals and 12 assists across all competitions. Form that has grabbed the attention of London rivals Chelsea who may or may not need to find a replacement for their current talisman Diego Costa.

With the 28 year old asking questions of the board, perhaps they will see it well within their interests to cash in on their prized possession rather than see him move to a rival on a bosman in a years time. Something that would no doubt wrangle the ‘Wenger out’ parade even further.

Another factor that could decide the whole saga would no doubt be the future of fellow world class attacking player Mesut Ozil, a player also believed to be growing tired of the clubs on the pitch fortunes. If the German would be willing to call it a day at the Emirates, Arsenal’s trophy winning potential would be significantly damaged.
