The 27-year-old Sturridge has been left in the cold for much of the season by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, making only a total of five starts in the Premier League so far, despite scoring two goals and an assist during that time.

Clearly, the Birmingham-born centre forward needs to do more to impress his manager, and appears running out of ways to get back into the first team. This is thought to be frustrating Sturridge even more and is starting to consider his future at Anfield.

Enter AC Milan, who are keen to give the former Chelsea and Manchester City a shot at redemption. Indeed, according to English sports portal Talksport, the San Siro outfit are plotting a move for Sturridge in the summer, whom they find as an ideal striker to lead their team up front.

The Rossoneri’s current first-team striker Carlos Bacca is thought to be planning on leaving AC Milan at the end of the season, leaving the Serie A giants to find a suitable replacement – with Sturridge the preferred target.

AC Milan are of the belief they can motivate Sturridge back to his lethal form, which saw him score 13 goals and two assists in 25 appearances across all competitions last season.

Liverpool, for their part, appear to have no qualms on the England international departing Anfield, but are keen to make sure they sell him for the right price – preferably a value close or higher to his current market value of £19-million.

Sturridge, meanwhile, is still not fully committed to a single decision at this point. He is set for crunch talks with Klopp come the end of the season in order to find clarity as to where he stands at the club.

Regardless, Sturridge will be a great marquee signing for Milan. They will be bringing in an established goal scorer with commendable credentials. Indeed, the Englishman has a Premier League win, a Champions League victory, as well as two FA Cup titles to his name.

Sturridge has a contract with Liverpool until 2019.
