The difference? – Liverpool turn heads with unusual freekick defensive play

Liverpool’s recent run of poor results has finally come to an end after putting a high flying Tottenham side to the sword with a 2-0 victory.

As impressive as their Premier League campaign has been to date, Mauricio Pochettino’s side offered little in the way of attacking threat. By contrast Jurgen Klopp’s side looked a far different opposition the team that rolled over to a strugglers Hull City the previous week.

Unsurprisingly, the return of Sadio Mane helped Liverpool rediscover that frantic edge that’s been missing from their play for the entirety of 2017. In fact, the Senegalese international contributed with both goals, sending the Anfield faithful into raptures come the final whistle.

Whilst the win brought plenty of superlatives, the eagle eyed internet was keen to highlight this little piece of defensive magic by the Merseysiders.

Anticipating a cheeky under the wall free-kick attempt by great Dane Christian Eriksen, Philippe Coutinho helps out his goalkeeper by remaining sprawled across the floor behind his wall.

Ingenious? or perhaps just a little too hipster for their own good.
