Retro Heroes: Des Walker

Not a lot of football fans nowadays recognise the name Des Walker, but for those who have lived and witnessed Walker’s incredible defensive skills, Walker was one of England’s icons – a defender who relied not just on his strength but also on his speed, able to chase and mark any player. He was so good, it had become a maxim that “You’ll never beat Des Walker”.
