5 players that can massively improve Liverpool’s title hopes

There have been few instances where Liverpool have threatened to end their league drought ever since the Barclays Premier League was established in the early 90s.

Under the likes of Rafael Benitez, Brendan Rodgers and Gerard Houlier, the Reds have had a few chances to win their first Premier League trophy but something has always happened to make the fans rue another opportunity missed.

However, the arrival of Jurgen Klopp at the dugout, a few shrewd signings and a great league campaign so far show that the Reds could be in for a really great chance to finally end that drought.

A few more players and the Merseyside giants are going to be there and about whenever title contenders are discussed in game shows.

1) Gianluigi Donnarumma

At the age of 17, the young Italian has already realized a dream of millions by becoming the number 1 of Italian Serie A giants, AC Milan.

Donnarumma is the second youngest goalkeeper to make a Serie A debut and the reason why he has a bright future ahead of him is that he has already made the starting spot his own.

While Milan are a huge club, their current predicament will play to Liverpool’s favor since their current two shot-stoppers are simply not good enough to help the team to league glory. Donnarumma on the other hand, is a great long-term solution.

2) Mario Gotze

Jurgen Klopp knows all too well about the gifted playmaker, having given the German his first taste of German Bundesliga during his time at Borussia Dortmund.

Although Gotze eventually left to sign with Bayern Munich, it is clear that both men are keen on a reunion.

At present Gotze is back at Dortmund but Klopp’s interest means that the former Mainz manager may eventually get a hold of a player whose creativity will help take some pressure off of Coutinho to perform day in day out.

3) Aymeric Laporte

Once a long-term target for Louis van Gaal while he was in charge at Manchester United, the young Frenchman is clearly destined for great things in the future.

After some really consistent displays in the Spanish La Liga with Athletico Bilbao, Laporte is getting a lot of interest from a host of European sides.

Liverpool need a ball playing defender and in the Frenchman, they could have a perfect centre back who has the ability to link well with the midfield.

4) Sven Bender

Although most analysts will say that signing players from your former club is never a great idea, we can make an exception in this case. Bender typifies Klopp’s geggenpressen philosophy.

The young German is a phenomenal holding midfielder and adds the type of bite in the middle of the pitch which makes or breaks title assaults.

In short, this German is going to be an instant hit should he be convinced to test his skills in the Premier League.

5) Andrea Belotti

While Arsenal have already lodged an official bid for the young Italian striker, Liverpool are the ones who really need a striker who can score goals and spends more time on the pitch than on the treatment table.

Belotti is a simply phenomenal striker who has the ability to become a great one. The Torino man is scoring goals for fun in the Serie A at the moment and Klopp should do well to try and sign the striker if he is to guarantee his team any chance of winning the Premier League.
