Manchester United ready record smashing bid for Barca’s Neymar

Manchester United appear ready to launch an all-out effort to bring Barcelona forward Neymar to Old Trafford, reports the Daily Record.

While many were surprised to see the £85 million tag on Paul Pogba over the summer, the Red Devils would need to more than double that for Neymar, as Barca is expected to demand as much as £180 million to sell their star forward.

Neymar has done well at Barcelona following a quiet first season. After scoring nine times upon arrival, the Brazilian international scored over 20 goals each of the next two seasons. With four in eleven appearances this season, it would appear as though he could help a side that has been outscored by Crystal Palace to this point of the season.

Summer transfer Zlatan Ibrahimovic has done well to score goals for United, tallying 7 in 12 appearances, but the rest of the attackers in the squad – Anthony Martial, Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney, and Marcus Rashford – have combined for just five goals. Jose Mourinho is surely interested in bolstering this attack, and there are few better options than the ex-Santos star.

With 166 goals in 281 appearances in domestic league competition, the Brazilian international has been getting it done all over the world. Will the city of Manchester be his next conquest?
