Manchester United Keen on Launching Bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt

Twenty-time English top flight champions Manchester United are thought to be interested in launching a transfer bid for Bayer Leverkusen’s young winger Julian Brandt once the transfer window opens in January.

Brandt is only 20-years-old at the moment but is already a well-recognised international who plays for Germany.

At club level, he has a stellar record with Bundesliga stalwarts Bayer Leverkusen. Indeed, just this season alone, Brandt has made a total 22 appearances for the club, scoring three goals and notching three assists.

Such incredible potential is thought to have caught the attention of Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. Indeed, according to German daily Bild, the Portuguese tactician is believed to be angling a move for the German winger, although a ballpark figure for a bid is still under discussion.

Brandt’s contract with Leverkusen, which ends in 2019, has a transfer release clause that is set to be trigger come the summer of next year, the value of which is set at 12.5 million Euros, according to the German newspaper.

Whether Mourinho will wait until the summer to make his move for Brandt, who has other suitors in the form of Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich, however, remains to be seen.

Brandt started his footballing career under the tutelage of the academy at Wolfsburg. He then made his move to Leverkusen in 2014.

Since then, he has been called up for Germany and has received four caps, and was part of the Germany squad that won silver in the 2016 Summer Olympics.
