Jose Mourinho dedicates Spurs win to his most criticised player

Manchester United defied this season’s penchant for bottling games by holding on to a valuable 1-0 victory of title chasers Spurs yesterday afternoon.

After slowing becoming a shell of the man that led to back-to-back titles with Chelsea of the last few weeks, no one was more relieved in the three points than Jose Mourinho.

Previously showing his dismay at football’s ‘Einsteins’, ie the baying media pack who question his methods, the double Champions League winner dedicated his win to his most criticised player.

Speaking to SkySports, Mourinho said: “I want to dedicate this victory to Fellaini because he deserves it.

“In the last match, it was him that was involved in the loss of two points, and that’s why I want to make it clear he is an important player for me.”

Strong praise for player that has this season exhibited the grace of a clumsy drunk at a wedding.

Whilst the win didn’t exactly ensure the side are now able to mount a strong title challenge (a Chelsea win meant they are still 13 points from the league’s summit), the record Premier League holders will be encouraged that Manchester City and Liverpool also dropped points, meaning they sit just 6 points from the champions league positions.

Perhaps even more encouraging than that was the emergence of former outkast Henrikh Mkhitaryan who followed up his fine former with the games only goal.

True to his side’s luck this season however, the club are now sweating over the Armenians fitness after he was hauled off kid game.

Never a dull moment at Old Trafford this year.
