West Ham are reportedly interested in taking Chelsea’s new boy Michy Batshuayi on loan in January.
The 23-year-old Belgian was bought this summer from Olympique de Marseille for £33m but so far has failed to prove his credentials at Stamford Bridge. Batshuayi’s only goal in the Premier League came on match day 2 against Watford. Since then, the talented front man was completely shadowed by in-form Diego Costa, who has started in all the league games this season, delivering 12 goals for the Blues.
After such a long time on the bench, Batshuayi now could make his first Premier League start in a West Ham shirt. The Hammers were in the battle for him this summer after the striker bagged 17 goals in French Ligue 1 for Olympique de Marseille. Now, they will try their luck one more time in January transfer market bidding a loan move for the Belgium International, The Metro reports.
After the disastrous start to the league this season, West Ham are now sitting in 15th, only 4 points above the relegation zone. Juventus’ Simone Zaza has failed to impressso far and The Hammers will not extend his loan stay in London. There’s no doubt Slaven Bilic’s side need fresh blood in his forward line, and Batshuayi’s hunger for playing could transform to goals that the team lacks this season.
Reports say West Ham are also linked with Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, but the star man is not likely to leave Anfield.
