Four-time English Champions Chelsea are believed to have set their sights on poaching young midfielder Franck Kessie from Serie A side Atalanta once the transfer window reopens in January.
Kessie has been making waves in Italy this season while playing under Atalanta colours, showing huge potential in his 17 appearances so far with the club, scoring seven goals and two assists in all competitions.
The 20-year-old Ivorian has been under the radar of Italian giants Juventus for some time, but the Bianconeri appear poised to lose their grip on the midfielder once Chelsea make their move.
True enough, according to Italian sports outlet Gazza Mercato, Chelsea are thought to be thinking of a huge-money bid for the midfield wonderkid. Many sources indicate the bid could reach a ballpark figure of 25 million Euros – something Juventus may not be willing to meet.
Apart from the two big European clubs, Merseyside stalwarts Everton are also thought to be interested in Kessie, although it remains to be seen if they are as willing as their London counterparts to break the bank on the inexperienced Kessie come January.
Kessie moved to Atalanta in the summer of 2015. Since then, he has moved on loan to another Italian team, Cesena, before playing fully for Atalanta this season.
Kessie made a name for himself when he was just 17, when he played for the Ivory Coast in their match against Sierra Leone. Kessie played the full ninety minutes and helped his country clinch a 2-1 victory.
