Gary Lineker fires dig at new Spurs signing Vincent Janssen

Since signing for the Lillywhites on the back of a high scoring season on Holland, Vincent Janssen has been busy seemingly writing his very own Spurs obituary with some pretty dire performances.

What with talisman Harry Kane only just returning to the side following an injury layoff, Tottenham have needed to depend on the Holland international’s goal scoring talents.

Unfortunately Janssen has returned Mauricio Pochettino faith by managing just one goal all season, an effort from the penalty spot in their 1-1 draw with Leicester City at White Hart Lane in October. To add and an even more worrying stat, the £19m signing from Eredivisie side AZ Alkmaar has managed just one effort on goal in 11 matches. Hardly the form that saw him net 27 goals in 34 matches last season.

Now adding insult to injury, one of Twitter’s most popular and untouchable footballing personalities, Gary Lineker has waded into the striker with an absolute zinger. Comparing Janssen to another expensive flop from the bowls of history.
