Frank Lampard unveils plans to leave NYC FC, releases farewell statement

Following in the wake of fellow English veteran Steven Gerrard across the other side of the US, Chelsea legend Frank Lampard has confirmed that he is set to leave New York City FC following the end of his contract.

The 38 year olds latest deal expires at the end of this year, it’s not currently known where the former England international’ likely destination will be next, or if indeed he will be hanging up his boots.

Whilst the goal scoring midfielder’s MLS career started horrendously by being called back by parent side Manchester City at the last moment, Lampard did manage to bank in 15 goals in 31 appearances for the newly formed side.

Not bad considering being hampered by a series of injuries during his spell.

Speaking to the clubs official website, Lampard conjured up the following farewell statement;

As my time at NYCFC comes to an end, I would like to thank so many people for the kindness and support that they have shown me over the last two years.
My teammates have been a pleasure to play alongside. The amazing fans have given me incredible support and backing.
I have very much enjoyed my time, and I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to play for such a great club and in such an incredible city.
