Arsenal ward off Barca and Man City by giving Hector Bellerin a huge six year contract

With Spanish giants Barcelona hovering over the right back due to the void left by the departure of Alves, Arsenal have, according to the Evening Standard, nailed down Hector Bellerin with a ginormous contract effectively ending a January sale for the defender.

Having originally signed from the La Masia in a Fabregas styled purchase, Bellerin went on to dethrone fellow competition such as Mathieu Debuchy, Calum Chambers and Nacho Monreal to be one of the world’s most in demand defenders. Given his sound technical ability and bags of pace, it’s little wonder that he has also been tracked by Guardiola’s Manchester City side.

The Catalan has signed a six-and-a-half-year deal worth a massive £100,000 per week, meaning even if any competitors came in for Bellerin armed with sizeable pockets, they’d have to offer a huge chuck of their budget for his wages alone.

After the departure of Gnabry, Arsenal fans will no doubt be pleased yet another potential world beater is now staying with the Gunners.
