Watch: Mario Balotelli nets a double on Nice debut

Having totally guffed up his career at a series of high profile European clubs, Mario Balotelli’s move to Nice has been considered the perfect breeding ground for a potential re-birth.

Indeed the former Manchester City and Liverpool man looked very much in the mood if this weekends debut performance was anything to go by. Making his Ligue 1 bow against Marseille on Sunday evening, the striker proceeded to net a brace, helping his side to a 3-2 victory at the Allianz Riviera.

Firstly the striker converted a spot-kick (all despite being goaded by Marseille’s Bafetimbi Gomi)

Then ‘Super Mario’ bagged his second of the evening when heading home from close range on 78 minutes to level the scores at 2-2, all courtesy of a fine Ricardo Pereira cross.

Wylan Cyprien later nabbed a late winner, capping off a fine win for Nice and, perhaps most of all, Mario Balotelli

And we for one are over the moon for the 26-year old!
