Champions League draw: Leicester and Spurs happy whilst Pep returns to Barcelona

August 26, 2016

Whilst the new City man seems to have injected a little ‘oomph’ into his squad, Pep Guardiola will no doubt be fearing a Suarez and Messi themed onslaught after Manchester City drew Barcelona in the Champions League group stages.

The Citizens have been dealt with a tricky double header against the La Liga champions but will no doubt fancy their chances of group progression after Celtic, who came through the qualifiers this week, and Borussia Mönchengladbach were drawn as the other two Group C sides.

Last seasons Premier League runners-up Arsenal take on Paris St-Germain, along with potential upsetters Basel and Ludogorets in Group A. Leicester City, thrilling all underdog fans the continent over in their first Champions League, face the altogether more rosey trio of Porto, Club Brugge and FC Copenhagen. Whilst there are no easy games at Europe’s elite level, the draw will no doubt bring smiles to Foxes fans.

Tottenham will also fancy their chances of progressing to the knockout stages after being drawn with CSKA Moscow, Bayer Leverkusen and Monaco
