Blackburn’s Shane Duffy scores two own goals before getting sent off v Cardiff (Video)

After already enduring a nightmare start to the new league season, Republic of Ireland defender Shane Duffy had an astoundingly bad Wednesday night during his side’s 3-0 defeat to Cardiff.

Having already featured in all three of his side’s defeats this season, the Blackburn man’s biggest contribution as far was scoring and own goal in Saturday’s 3-0 defeat to Wigan.

Clearly wanting to supersize on the calamity scale, Duffy added another two own goals against Cardiff writhing the space of six minutes, all before getting himself sent-off.

The Welsh side grabbed the lead 14 minutes in as Shane Duffy crashed home the opener. Six minutes later, Duffy headed in Cardiff’s second.

Naturally the defender at this point believed his contribution was apt. Which is possibly why he decided to receive a second yellow for kicking the ball away 5 minutes into injury time.
