Liverpool enter the race to sign Newcastle’s Georginio Wijnaldum

Having bolstered his squad with the likes of Sadio Mane (Southampton, £36m), Loris Karius (Mainz, £4.7m) and Joel Matip (Schalke, free), Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to 25 year old Newcastle midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum.

During the Magpies last turgid Premier League campaign, Wijnaldum at times was a bright spark – undeniably his greatest contribution being the scoring of four goals during his sides 6-2 capitulation of Norwich.

Previously signed for £14.5million from Eredivisie club Feyenoord, it’s believed that the Merseysiders will need to fork out at least £25million for the Dutch international’s services, largely due to the fact that owner Ashley demands large sell on fee’s for his acquisitions.

Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to the Newcastle midfielder after growing weary in trying to capture Udinese’s Piotr Zielinski, with AC Milan hovering it looks likely that the German manager will miss out on his first choice.

So what do we think Liverpool supporters, whilst Newcastle were abhorrent for much of last season, we seem to think Wijnaldum has demonstrated his quality…just about.
