BBC Wales’ Twitter account becomes victim of its own joke following N Ireland Own Goal

As you may or may have not noticed, the official BBC Wales Twitter account have been busy having all sorts of fun with the national team and their heroic displays at this years Euro’s.

Starting with BBC Bale, the account profile has been frequently changed to display the name of the last player to score for Wales – a gentle gag if ever we saw one.

However, following Wales’ nail-biting 1-0 win over Northern Ireland in the last 16 yesterday afternoon, BBC Wales were forced to change their name again accordingly – this keeping inline with their tedious and unwarranted gag.

Thanks to Gareth McAuley’s horror own-goal, their Twitter feed soon looked like this…

Well, it did for a handful of minutes, until they saw sense and changed it to the following, avoiding an potential run-ins with McAuley’s, presumably.
