Whilst a large number of football fans are able to look on the game with a sense of perspective, sometimes footballers can’t help but foolishly make them selves targets for the baying mob.
Take for instance Atletico Madrid B Keeper Sara Ezquerro. After watching the men’s side agonisingly lose the Champions League final courtesy of a heartbreaking Jaunfran missed penalty, the red and whites stopper was pictures just 24 hours later celebrating Real Madrid’s Undecima on the streets of Madrid.
Naturally the picture hasn’t gone down too well with the Atleti and it’s fans.
According to Marca, the club has called a ‘crisis cabinet’ in order to deal with the matter, and she could have her contract terminated for her ‘transgression.’
Esquerro has even had to close down her social network accounts due to the wave of angry messages that has flooded her way.
A messy situation indeed. If only she’d just have watched it from the comfort of her own living room.
