PSV unveil swanky new kit – the last time ‘Phillips’ will appear on their shirts

What with the side being formed as a sports club from the employees of the Philips factory in Eindhoven in 1913, PSV have had their company name strapped across their chest ever since shirt sponsorships became ‘a thing’.

Now, Philips are bringing their long-standing endorsement deal to an end this summer so, to commemorate the longstanding pairing, Umbro have released a rather swanky commemorative ‘Heritage ‘kit.

With the shirt set to only be work for the clubs remaining two games this season, also being just two point off the top of the Eredivisie with five matches remaining, it’s possible that they may be able to pick up a trophy wearing it.

Now that would be nice.

CEO of Philips Benelux, Hans de Jong, commented on the separation.

“We are proud that PSV will play in a special Philips uniform. It’s a special milestone now we are going to fill our sponsor relationship on a new, innovative way.  We will always be involved in ‘our’ club.”
