Daryl Janmaat breaks two fingers punching dressing room wall following miserable defeat to Southampton

In the same week we brought you news of a PSV player putting his fist through a window, now another injury inflicted on a player via an inanimate object.

What with Newcastle shipping three at Southampton this weekend, very nearly consigning them to Championship football next season, Daryl Janmaat took his match frustrations out on dressing room wall, breaking two of his fingers in the process.

According to the Chronicle in a story ran this morning;

It is believed that Janmaat later admitted his actions had been stupid, but it is also understood there were some strong words from Newcastle players to each other after the appalling first half display.

The Dutch international had already been substituted at the end of the first half courtesy of a hamstring injury, it’s unlikely however that either injury will keep him out of the weekend must win match against Swansea.
