Manchester City claimed their place in the Champions League last 16 in dramatic fashion last night after a 4-2 victory over Bundesliga side Borussia Monchengladbach.
The score in many ways flattered the home side as come halftime, despite a David Silva opener, the visitors were convincingly the better side after leading 2-1 courtesy of goals from Korb and Caetano de Araújo.
Fortunately for Pellegrini and his players , three goals in quick succession (via Sterling x2 and Bony) in the games last quarter completely flipped fortunes – goals that meant a potential on knockout fixture against either Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich or Barcelona, was hastily avoided.
Whilst the Germans Champions League campaign ended in a last place finish, credit has to be payed to the 3000 strong support that made the trip to England.
