Perhaps it may be time to have a good old rummage in that loft for those old stickers albums that you pretended to throw out.
Pictures above is a 1970 Panini World Cup sticker album. Not only does it look gloriously retro-tastic, it’s also been sold for a hefty €2,400 (approx £1,700) at auction.
The album went up for sale on online auction site Catawiki, after a 20 way bidding war one lucky winner became the proud owner of the piece…of course with all 251 stickers intact.
Catawiki’s sports memorabilia expert, Wouter Waaijers commented on the sale;
“It’s very rare to see an album this complete come to auction and is the first I’ve seen,”
“It’s clear that the value of Panini albums rises every two years during a European Championship or World Cup tournament,”
“There’s a real appetite for iconic football memorabilia such as this.”
As we said, time to have right good old rummage around.
