5 players that should be on Klopp’s January shopping list

After inflicting a crushing defeat on Pellegrini’s crew at Etihad, Liverpool climb to 9th rung on Premier League ladder with 20 points in their bag. Their latest away victory has somewhat reignited the club’s hopes of securing Champions League spot this season.

However, let’s face it, Klopp is no Harry Potter. His men still stand far from the shores of Champions League island and it’s not been long since the Anfield squad squandered three precious points at home soil against the likes of Crystal Palace.
However, thankfully, Winter is coming (piss off, Starks) and, with it, so is the January transfer season. We believe that The Normal One can add real depth and vivacity to his squad if he acquires the signature of following players.

1. Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang

The Gabonese striker Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang is in full flower of his form with Dortmund, racking up an impressive tally of 14 goals this season. With his sheer pace and explosive goal-scoring ability, the 26-year-old would add some real strength and intensity in Liverpool’s attacking line.

Klopp had a special bond with Aubameyang while both were at the German club. But rumors have been rife recently that number of European powerhouses are eyeing the Dormund star, including the likes of Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Barcelona. Klopp would have to make a very attractive offer to lure him to Anfield.

2. Wesley Sneijder

The 31-year-old Dutchman is currently plying his trade at SuperLig with Galatasaray. Many may consider Sneijder too old for Premier League, but a player of his class could be a real difference-maker at Anfield. The Dutchman is considered indispensable by the Turkish outfit, having steered them to the Super Lig, Turkish Cup and Turkish Super Cup since his surprising move from Inter Milan in 2013. Due to his advancing years, he may also come at a reasonable price if Klopp is prepared to trigger the clause in the upcoming winter transfer window.

3. Lucas Biglia

According to latest reports from Italian media, Klopp has already named Bigila in his winter wishlist. Liverpool came close to securing Lazio midfielder’s signature last summer but this time Klopp is confident of acquiring the Argentine talent. Biglia has been in stunning form this season with three goals in eight Serie A appearances. The 29-year-old midfielder could fill the void left by Steven Gerrard when Liverpool lost him to MLS club, and provide them industry and some class in midfield.

4. Bernd Leno

Liverpool’s current number one Simon Mignolet has been struggling between the sticks and has failed to create great impact at Anfield since his arrival in 2013. Latest reports suggest that Liverpool are already tabling up an audacious swoop for Bernd Leno, who is seen as an ideal solution to their defensive problems. At the tender age of just 23, the young German talent is one of the hottest goalies in Bundesliga, and has all the attributes to shine in Premier League too.

5. Neven Subotic

Subotic could prove to be a steady hand at Reds backline and would offer a quality partner for Skrtel or Sakho. His outstanding performances in the heart of Dortmund defense over past few seasons has made him Klopp’s top transfer target for January.

The Borussia Dortmund center-back joined his current club in 2008 from Mainz 05. The same year and from the same club as Klopp. So could he be set to follow him again?
