Neville and Giggs informs squatters they can stay at renovated hotel for all of Winter

With Manchester United legends Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville investing in the renovation of the Manchester United Stock Exchange into a brand spanking new hotel, you could forgive them for being slightly worried that the property was currently being housed by a large group of unexpected squatters – namely the Manchester Angels, a group of local housing activists.

Turns out G Nev isn’t the slightest bit bothered, in fact he’s given the occupants the opportunity to stay at the premises for all of Winter.

Speaking to Wesley Hall, head of the group, the former Manchester United full back commented;

“From my point of view, I’m quite relaxed about this,”

The news certainly took Mr Hall a-back, in fact the 33 year old human rights activist responded by welling up when told that the property could in fact be used to help house the homeless for the entirety of Winter.

So now the wheels are in motion for a full on seasonal operation to help out the needy; “We are going to do everything properly,” said Hall. “We have already drawn up rotas for cooking, cleaning and staffing the gate. Everyone will be able to have their own room and each person will be able to lock their bedroom door. We were expecting that as soon as Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville found out that we had occupied the building, they would try to get us evicted and that we would have to look for another building. Having a few months during the winter to work with homeless people without the threat of eviction hanging over our heads is brilliant.”

As unforgiving as they were on the pitch during their heyday, the United pair have proved a couple of genuine Santa’s with this fine example of generosity.

Lovely stuff.
