Sevilla’s Konoplyanka on Premier League move: If didn’t know how to control a ball then I may have gone to England

Yes the Premier League’s frenetic pace may be a reflection of national impatience, ignorance and cluelessness of developing technical ability. It may also be overhyped, over monied and full of egotistical maniacs in and out of the board room….but it’s ours damn it!

Despite our blind ignorance, perhaps we shouldn’t be that defensive of Sevilla winger Yevhen Konoplyanka’s recent comments in regards to the English league.

Linked Liverpool, Tottenham and Stoke in the summer transfer window, the Ukranian opted for a move to Sunny Spain.

Clearly he hasn’t regretted his decision…

If I was two-and-a-half metres tall and didn’t know how to control a ball then I may have gone to England, but here [in Spain], the football’s more technical. It’s the best,” he said.

“I don’t regret coming to Spain. I didn’t receive many offers. Some came from the Premier League and Sevilla and Atlético from Spain, but I kept thinking that Sevilla were right for me.

“I was very anxious when making my choice, to the point that I got nervous and lost three kilos beforehand. I loved Sevilla’s insistence on signing me, so I think I made the right decision.”

Pffft, whatever mate.

We’ll just leave this here;
