Adebayor released by Tottenham Hotspurs into the free transfer wilderness

Emmanuel Adebayor is just four goals away from joining a rather exclusive set of players to have scored 100 Premier League goals….he’s also just been released by Tottenham Hotspurs on the count of being ineffectual on the pitch and changing room kryptonite off of it.

The club released a simple “We wish Emmanuel well for the future,” as their Official club statement….and you can bet they meant every darn word of it.

The former Arsenal striker previously joined Spurs for £5m fee from Manchester City back in 2012. With his career at a standstill after falling out of favour with the clubs management, it was believed Adebayor was seeking £5m as payment for the early cancellation of his contract. You can only wonder if he ever received his princely sum.

It’s still unclear whether previously interested parties West Ham will go back in for the forward, as if they hadn’t already dodged a bullet the first time round.
