Whilst we had had the incident pegged as a ploy to detract attention from his struggling sides performance, Jose Mourinho has continued to lay into his Chelsea doctor, Eva Carneiro, by refusing her entry to matches and training session, even from entering the team hotel, as part of a larger shakeup of his back room staff.
The Chelsea managers fury was due to Carneiro entering the pitch to treat Eden Hazard during the sides 2-2 draw with Swansea. With the side already a man down thanks to Courtois’ untimely sending off, the former Real Madrid and Inter boss took her decision to be largely unprofessional given the extent of the Belgians injury and the numbers on the pitch.
Commenting after the game, he waded in;
“I wasn’t happy with them because even if you are a medical doctor or secretary on the bench, you have to understand the game, If you go to the pitch to assist a player, then you must be sure that a player has a serious problem.
“I was sure that Eden didn’t have a serious problem. He had a knock and was very tired. My medical department left me with eight fit outfield players in a counterattack after a set piece and we were worried we didn’t have enough players left.”
The decision on the face of it seems petulant and unwarranted, especially given the coach’s history of being petulant and unwarranted. However it’s understood a preseason of general incompetence by his medical staff has made Mourinho mift. The fact that Diego Costa still has the hamstrings of an 80 year old lady also compounding his misery.
On the front of it Mourinho is the master of diversion, perhaps more accurately the man can just be your everyday horrible boss.
