With the pro same sex marriage argument engulfing the social consciousness, Rayo Vallecano have gone the whole hog and unleashed this fabulous rainbow affair as their new away kit.
Not wanting to dismiss the design as merely an aesthetic decision, the club have quite wonderfully used it to pay tribute to ‘the unsung heroes of society’ with each band on the rainbow sash representing a different aspect of social struggle.
From our gathering (with a child like understanding of the Spanish language) each colour represents the following.
Red: People fighting against cancer.
Orange: People fighting for the integration of those with disabilities.
Yellow: People who refuse to lose hope.
Green: People who fight to protect the environment.
Blue: People who fight against child abuse.
Pink: People who fight against domestic and gender violence.
Gold: People who fight against homophobic discrimination.
So there ya go, what a wonderfully gesture.
