After intense media speculation coupled with the news that the midfielder hadn’t turned up for Villa’s pre-season training, all roads seemingly pointed towards the Villains captain signing for Manchester City in an £8m deal.
Alas, turns out the mindset of a young English footballer isn’t quite as predictable as we thought. After much pondering, along with some rather stern advice from former City bench-warmer Micah Richards, Delph has confirmed he’ll be staying with the Birmingham club.
