Cambiasso announces he will leave Leicester City after rejection of new deal

Whilst we admittedly categorised the signing as nothing but your usual veteran wanting a bite of Premier League pie before retirement, Esteban Cambiasso proved he still had plenty in the old engine (and what an engine) by becoming Leicester’s player of the year following the clubs almighty league survival story.

Well, today marks the end of the former Inter Milan and Real Madrid midfielder’s time with the Foxes after the 34 year old decided against extending his one year contract.

Whilst claiming one Champions League title, five Serie A winners’ medals and one La Liga winners’ medal in an illustrious career, judging by the smile on his face that frequently followed, you’d imagine that the battling midfielder loved every darn moment of his short lived time in the Premier League.

Who knows what beckons next for the Argentine.

Here’s the players statement that followed the announcement, along with the clubs own tribute.
