Begovic signs as Chelsea’s number 2 for £8million on a four year deal

Stoke’s Begovic has seemingly avoided any potential suitors looking for a new number one, and instead signed as Chelsea’s League Cup keeper for a fee of £8million.

Whilst the Bosnian will in fact be wearing the number one shirt (Thibaut Courtios has opted to keep his number 13), it look as if playing time is going to be an increasing rarity for the stopper. Barring any dramatic change of events, Chelsea have their number set in stone for the next 10 years, thank you very much.

After proving himself as a top asset between the sticks it all seems a bit of a shame, who can begrudge the man the chance to pick up some retirement money before resuming his career a couple of year does the track.
